We welcome the following individuals as keyboard artists in 2017:

Evelyn Mason

Evie moved to Naples in 1985.  She fell in love with the area in the 1960’s while vacationing and just knew she would one day live here.  Before coming to Naples, Ev heralded from upstate New York where she was on adjunct faculty as accompanist and piano/music theory teacher at the Community College of the Finger Lakes in Canandaigua, New York.  She also taught at Ithaca College as well as organist for several churches in both areas.  She holds a Master of Music degree attained at Ithaca College in New York State.  However, she would be quick to tell you her greatest achievement would be in raising three great children, one boy – two girls, and watching them grow and mature into adulthood; and also reap the benefits of two grandchildren.

Since arriving here she has continued teaching and being a church musician.  For the last fifteen-plus years she has been employed as an accompanist and organist at St. William Catholic Church in Naples, as well as appearing as substitute organist at many other churches in the area – one being St. Mary’s – which she greatly enjoys doing.

Joan Zeiter

Joan Zeiter was born and raised in the Reading, Pennsylvania area.   She began piano lessons at age 5, voice and organ lessons as a teenager.  At Lebanon Valley College, Annville, PA, she studied organ and choral techniques with Dr. Pierce A. Getz and received her Bachelor of Arts degree in music with an emphasis on organ performance.  She was awarded the Master of Music degree by Westminster Choir College, Princeton, NJ where she focused on the performance of Baroque organ music with Dr. Mark Brombaugh.

Throughout her years of ministry, Joan served as Director of Music and Organist at a number of churches in the Eastern Pennsylvania area where her husband Don served as a United Methodist pastor for 40 years.  She also taught private piano and organ lessons and worked for a company specializing in sales training for financial institution employees.  After retirement, the Zeiters began dividing their time between the Gulf waters of Naples and the Lake Champlain shoreline of North Ferrisburgh, Vermont.   They enjoy visiting their children and grandchildren, singing together in the St. Mary's choir, boating and swimming, reading and traveling.
