CHILDREN'S MINISTRIES

“Then little children were brought to Jesus for him to place his hands on them and pray for them. But the disciples rebuked those who brought them. Jesus said, ‘Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.’” —Matthew 19: 13-14

St. Mary’s is revamping our growing Children’s Ministry to accommodate the wide range of school aged children who have come to St. Mary’s to worship with their families. Our vision for the new children’s ministry is to provide the opportunity for learning to all members of the church to grow and learn about Christ through the study of God’s Word and the Book of Common Prayer and through greater understanding of our liturgy and sacraments.

The expected outcome of this program is for our youth to grow in faith, gain more knowledge about Jesus Christ, have a better understanding of scripture as applied to one’s life, gain excitement and desire to continue to be nurtured through God’s Word, hunger to seek more from the Kingdom of God, and the desire to walk in the way that Christ has taught us. We expect our program to be a huge success!

Sunday School
The curriculum that will be taught in the classroom is called “Living the Good News” and is a lectionary-based curriculum that will be coordinated with the themes of the seasons and the Sundays as they are being celebrated in church.

Age-appropriate teaching offered for each of 3 levels:
Tykes:
6mo. to 5 yrs-certified care provider
Kid’s Connection:
6 - 8 yrs
St. Mary’s Saints:
9+ yrs

Nursery
In addition to Sunday school, St Mary’s now offers a nursery for infants through age 4. We would like to welcome Elaine as our new nursery care taker. She is a fully qualified nursery care provider, who has trained in first aid and CPR and currently directs activties and cares for guest's children at the Coconut Point Hyatt.

She is doing a wonderful job of loving our babies while the parents are allowed to worship in church!

We are very blessed to have such devoted people to volunteer their time to help make Sunday mornings a success for St. Mary’s children!
