Jerusalem

Today was the powerful climax of our wonderful pilgrimage. At 5:00 am, the city still quiet and still, we walked the Via Dolorosa, the original Stations of the Cross. We have documented evidence for Christians walking this walk from the fourth century when Christianity was first free to express itself fully in public. The Church in Jerusalem marked the places of Christ’s passion and prayed and worshiped at them. Here is a link from Steve Ray about the  Church of the Holy Sepulchre.

To walk this walk in Jerusalem and to conclude it by touching and praying at the very places that Our Lord died and rose again is a spiritual blessing beyond words. I prayed for you as I touched the place the Cross stood and the place where Jesus rose from the dead. May we all die to sin and rise to share Christ’s life and Christ’s glory.

Later we joined our ancestors in faith the Jews and prayed at the Western (Wailing) Wall. I was surprised at the powerful sense of God’s presence there, the result of the countless prayers of his faithful people.

In the afternoon I visited and prayed at the Armenian Cathedral of St. James particularly on behalf of the Raubolts and the Esayians. I also stopped in at Christ Church, an Anglican parish of the Diocese of Jerusalem, and brought greetings from us all.

God bless you.
