Of all the saints, Mary seems to be the one who touches us the deepest, right in the heart.  I think that’s because in Mary we see the fullness of the Gospel.  We see one of us: our Sister, our Mother, full of love for God, full of the grace of God, filled with the Spirit of God, and therefore able to bring Christ into the World.

And, we want to be like her – like her in her purity, in her God-centeredness, her delight in praising him, her eagerness to say Yes to him, her Generosity in bringing God’s Son into the World.

Mary’s ministry, of course, is unique: there is only One Mother of God.  But can’t we emulate her in that desire to say a whole-hearted Yes with our whole life, to God our Creator and Father?  And by saying Yes to Him, can’t we be like Mary in bringing Christ into our world today?

Hail Mary, Full of Grace, the Lord is with you.
Blessed are you among women,
and blessed is the fruit of your womb, Jesus.

Holy Mary, Mother of God,
pray for us sinners,
now, and at the hour of our death. Amen.
